Obituary

Janice A. "Henri" Hilby, 71, of Menominee, IL, passed away, on Monday, February 15, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center, in Dubuque, IA.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, on Friday, February 19, 2016, at Nativity BVM Catholic Church, in Menominee, with Fr. Dean Smith officiating. Burial will be in Nativity BVM Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 P/M to 8 P/M, on Thursday, February 18, 2016, and from 9 A/M to 9:45 A/M, on Friday, February 19, 2016, at the Miller Funeral Home, in East Dubuque, where a parish scripture service will be at 3:30 P/M, on Thursday.

Jan was born on January 18, 1945, in San Francisco, CA, the daughter of Louis and Lorraine (Kaufmann) Hendricks. She was united in marriage to Kenneth V. Hilby on June 25, 1966, at St. Patrick's Church, in Dubuque. She was a graduate of Wahlert High School, Class of 1963.

Jan was a member of Nativity BVM Parish, a founding member of the Mother's Club, a member of the Menominee Athletic Club, and started the Girls Softball League, which she coached with much enthusiasm. She was always involved with her grandchildren's activities, where Jan was the loudest supporter and cheerleader. Jan was an active member of the Monday night bowling league and the yearly "bowling trips" which she and Ken enjoyed.

Jan was employed by Country Companies Insurance, in Galena, for almost twenty-eight (28) years.

Surviving are her husband, Kenneth V. Hilby; four (4) children, Ann (Dan) Welp, of East Dubuque, IL, Mike (Becky) Hilby, of Galena, IL, Julie (Patrick) Ketchum, of Springfield, IL, and Sara (Jason) Hilby, of Skokie, IL; ten (10) grandchildren, Brian and Jenna Welp, Paige, Payton, Erin and Taylor Hilby, Riann, Eric and Hannah Ketchum and Olivia Hilby; her siblings, Noreen (Tom) Larson, of Dubuque, IA, Nancy (Dave) Brauhn, of Robbins, IA, Mary Lou (Bob) Johanningmeier and a sister-in-law, Patti Hendricks, all of Dubuque, IA; many nieces and nephews; her in-laws, Rosetta (Wayne) Arand, of Stillman Valley, IL, Cletus and Lois Hilby, of Menominee, IL, Eileen Hilby, of East Dubuque, IL, Rita (Louis) Berning and Lorraine Wills, both of Hazel Green, WI.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ron; in-laws, Viola (Bob) Scharpf, Merlin Hilby, LaVerne Wills,; a nephew, Dennis Berning, and great-nephew, Nick Hilby, both who were recently deceased.

Ken and family wish to give "special thanks" to the staff at Mercy Medical Center ICU and 3-West, and Hospice of Dubuque, for the wonderful care provided to their wife and mother!

Jan was the recipient of a kidney transplant and would encourage everyone to be an organ donor.
