James L. "Jamie" Herrick, 63, of Galena, IL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at home, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be at 10 A/M on Monday, June 8, 2015, at the Miller & Steinke Funeral Home in Galena, with Rev. Gloria Hopewell officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena.
Visitation will be from 3 P/M to 7 P/M on Sunday, June 7, 2015, at the Miller & Steinke Funeral Home, Galena.
Jamie was born on August 22,1951, in Hazel Green, WI, the son of Edward V. and Helen G. (Moser) Herrick. He was a truck driver and last employed by Wenzel Towing in Dubuque, IA.
He was an avid NASCAR fan, attended several NASCAR races and rooted for #18, Kyle Busch. Jamie was also a huge Green Bay Packers fan. He enjoyed playing cards at the Eagles Club, going to Leisure Lake, rural Bernard, IA, and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Surviving are his five (5) children, Michelle (Kevin) Glasgow, of Madison, WI, Melinda (James) Angerett, of Thurmont, MD, David (Dana) Herrick, of Oswego, IL, Billy (Lexi Kane) Herrick, of Dubuque, IA, and Meghan (David Feldermann) Herrick, of Galena, IL; seven (7) grandchildren; his siblings, Laurie (Michael) Clark, of Preston, MO,
Beth (Jim Arends) Nolan, of Galena, IL, Jean (Gerald Broshous) Worley, of Stockton, IL, and Harvey (Debbie) Herrick, of Elizabeth, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Helen; his brothers, Teddy and Richard; and a great niece, Kimberly Brashaw.
The family would like to "thank" the nurses and staff at Hospice of Dubuque, especially Megan, for their care and kindness given to Jamie.
