James C. "Jim" Accola, 68, of East Dubuque, IL, passed away, at 3:55 P/M, on Sunday afternoon, August 14, 2016, at Waverly Place, in Stockton, IL.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, on Friday, August 19, 2016, at St. Mary's Church, in East Dubuque, with Fr. Stephen Lundgren officiating. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League.
Visitation will be from 3 P/M to 7 P/M, on Thursday, August 18, 2016, and from 9 A/M to 9:45 A/M, on Friday, August 19, 2016, at the Miller Funeral Home, in East Dubuque, where the parish rosary will be recited at 2:45 P/M, on Thursday.
Jim was born on October 7, 1947, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Leonard V. and Dora (Petitgout) Accola. He was a graduate of Wahlert High School, Class of 1966. Jim was united in marriage to Bette Woller, on July 1, 1972, at St. Mary's Church, in East Dubuque.
He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, Cubs and Bulls. Jim was formerly employed at the John Deere Dubuque Works, until his retirement in 2003, and later worked for the City of Dubuque Parks Division for eight (8) years.
Jim was a llfetime member of St. Mary's Church and a former member of U.A.W. Local #94. He loved going out to eat, especially with his uncle, Jerry Accola.
Survivors include his wife, Bette; one son, Bryan (Audrey Jo) Accola, of Dubuque, IA; and one daughter, Audrey Stratton, of East Dubuque, IL; and his grandchildren, Ayden Accola, Slyvia, Trent and Olivia Stratton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Dora; and a sister, Janet Accola.
