Hylene N. Anderson, 93, of Dubuque, IA, formerly of Scales Mound, IL, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024, at Stonehill Care Center, in Dubuque.

Family and friends may call from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at the Scales Mound United Methodist Church, where funeral services will be held at 11:15 a.m., on Tuesday, with Rev. Libby Rutherford officiating. Burial will follow in the Scales Mound Township Cemetery.

Hylene was born on December 30, 1930, in Galena, IL, the daughter of Frank and Pearl (Whitsel) Norman. She attended Galena High School. Hylene was united in marriage to Lee B. Anderson, on June 3, 1947, at Marengo, IL.  He preceded her in death on February 14, 2009.

Hylene and Lee farmed in Council Hill and Guilford Townships for approximately 57 years before moving to Dubuque, in 2004. She graduated from Loras College in 1988, with a BA in English and Writing. Hylene was a former member of the Jo Daviess County Board for many years. She and Lee enjoyed traveling to many places.

Surviving are five children, Leigh Ann (Norman) Homb, of Apple Canyon Lake, IL, Scott (Susan) Anderson and Randy (Cindy) Anderson, both of Scales Mound, IL, Doug (Danielle) Anderson, of Bourbonnais, IL, and Mark Anderson, of Dubuque, IA; a special niece, Sharon Stodden, of Galena, IL; 17 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy (Dennis) Laustsen; a son, Daniel, in infancy; two sisters, Annella (John) Dayton and Joan Norman; and two brothers, Orville Norman and Leonard (Maleta) Norman; brothers and sisters-in-law, Florence (Arnold) Mundhenke, Anna (Carl) Clay, Marv (Elaine) Anderson, Carl (Doris) Anderson, Hazel (Bill) Kehrwold, and Josephine (John) Guffey.
