Helen M. Richard, 98, of rural Hazel Green, WI, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2015, at the home of her son, John J. Richard, of rural Hazel Green, with her family by her side.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, on Friday, March 13, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Church, in Kieler, WI, with Rev. Bernard Rott officiating. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 P/M to 7 P/M, on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, IL, where the parish scripture service will be at 3:45 P/M. Visitation will also be from 9:30 A/M - 10:15 A/M, on Friday, at the Parish Center in Kieler.

Helen was born on June 24, 1916, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of John and Mary (Horsfall) Peter. She was united in marriage to LaVern E. Richard on June 24, 1941, at St. Mary's Church, Dubuque, IA. He preceded her in death on September 3, 1995.

Helen was a homemaker and was formerly employed in the bakery at the Sinsinawa Dominican Motherhouse. Helen was a member of the Hazel Green Women's Club and a member of Immaculate Conception Parish and its Council of Catholic Women.

She was very proud of the fact that she worked on the B-17 bombers in Detroit, MI, during World War II.

Surviving are two (2) children, Candace "Candy" (Pat) Flynn, of Potosi, WI, and John J. (Carolyn) Richard, of Hazel Green, WI; three (3) grandchildren, John Thomas Richard and Amy and Brandon Bolton; a great-grandson, Logan Kruser; two (2) sisters, Ruth Haugen and Janet Grew, both of Dubuque, IA; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Jane (D.J.), of Spokane, WA.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LaVern; three (3) brothers, John and James Peter and Robert Peter, in infancy; and a sister, Dorothy.

A Helen M. Richard Memorial Fund has been established.

Helen's family wishes to "thank" the nurses and staff at Hospice of Dubuque for the wonderful care provided for their mother.
