Gordon L. "Gordy" Trowbridge, 87, of Kieler, WI, passed away Thursday morning, November 12, 2015, at home, following a brief illness.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, on Monday, November 16, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, in Kieler, WI, with Fr. Bernard Rott officiating. Burial will be in the Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery, with full military honors by VFW Post #5276, of Potosi, WI.
Visitation will be from 1 P/M to 5 P/M, on Sunday, November 15th, and from 9:15 A/M to 10:15 A/M, on Monday, November 16th, at the Immaculate Conception Parish Center, in Kieler, where the parish prayer service will be at 12:45 P/M, Sunday.
Gordon was born on March 10, 1928, in Gaza, IA, the son of Louis and Adda (Geister) Trowbridge. He married Rosemary J. Hoppenjans on March 21, 1949, at St. Anthony's Church, at Premghar, IA. She preceded him in death on August 1, 1991. He later married Mary Lou (Burbach) Eggers, on June 27, 1998, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kieler.
He was a graduate of Primghar High School, Class of 1946. Gordon was employed at Crescent Electric Supply, in East Dubuque, IL, retiring as Price Coordinator, in 1993. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Kieler, a life-time member of VFW Post, #5276, of Potosi, WI, and a life-time member of American Legion Post, #0036, of Primghar, IA. Gordon was a veteran of the Army serving during WW#2 and the Korean Conflict. He was honored to have been invited to go on the Honor Flight in 2010.
Gordy enjoyed woodworking, leatherworking, his John Deere mowing tractor, reading and Word Search. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spending time at their cabin in Bagley, WI, traveling, and time spent with family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Lou Trowbridge; three (3) children, Michael Trowbridge, of Dickeyville, WI, Gary (Peggy) Trowbridge, of Kieler, WI, and Kathy (Scott) Schultz Harrison, of Amboy, IL; a daughter-in-law, Hatsumi Trowbridge, of Hazel Green, WI; his step-children, Dale (Maurine) Eggers, of Marshall, WI, Doreen (Steve) Loehndorf, of Waunakee, WI, Darryl (Tammie) Eggers, of Kieler, WI, David (Colleen) Eggers, of Lancaster, WI, and Daniel (Kathleen) Eggers, of San Marcos, TX; fourteen (14) grandchildren; and seven (7) great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Rosemary; a son, Steven J. Trowbridge, on October 20, 1999; a son-in-law, Robert Schultz; his brother, Truman Trowbridge; a grandson, Benjamin Schultz; and a granddaughter, Emily Eggers.
A Gordon L. Trowbridge Memorial Fund has been established.
The Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, IL, is in charge of arrangements.
