Gladys L. Nath, 100, of Galena, IL, passed away, on Thursday, June 23, 2016, at the Galena-Stauss Senior Care Community.
Visitation will be from 5 P/M to 8 P/M, on Sunday, June 26, 2016, at the Miller & Steinke Funeral Home, in Galena.
Funeral Services will be at 10 A/M, on Monday, June 27, 2016, at the Miller & Steinke Funeral Home, in Galena, with Rev. Stacy Cavanaugh officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena.
Gladys was born on September 12, 1915, near Orangeville, IL, the daughter of Ammon and Sarah (Stamm) Moyer. She married Frederick M. "Fred" Nath, on October 17, 1935, at Ottawa, IL. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2009.
Gladys and Fred moved to Galena in 1947, where they operated Nath's Garage and Towing until the spring of 1987.
She was educated in two (2) one room school houses, namely Franklin School and Chapel Hill School, both in Stephenson County, IL, and later attended Orangeville High School. Gladys was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Elks Lodge #882, of Galena, the Galena Eagles, and the Galena Moose Lodge.
Her hobbies included bowling and she started golfing in her early 60's and played up until age 90. She made bibs for the Galena Nursing Home, quilts and wall hangings for her family, and doll clothes for her great-grandchildren.
Surviving are her daughter, Kathleen "Skip" (Gary) Wilkinson, of Dunedin, FL; two (2) granddaughters, Ann (Jeff) Lind, of Juneau, AK, and Faye Wilkinson, of Dunedin, FL; two (2) great-granddaughters, Miranda and Kayli, of Juneau, AK; two (2) sisters, Alice Weaver and Edna Viel, both of Freeport, IL; and a brother, Charles (Bernice) Moyer, of Grantsburg, WI; her sister-in-law, Fern Moyer, of Galena, IL; nieces; nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; siblings, Art, Esther, Susan, Bertha, Phillip, Alvin and William "Jim".
In lieu of flowers, plants, and food, memorials may be given to the Galena EMS, Galena Fire Department, or a Church of your choice.
Skip and family wish to extend a "special thank-you" to Dr. Koenigs, the nurses and staff at Galena-Stauss Assisted Living, and Galena-Stauss Senior Care Community, and Hospice, for the wonderful care given to Gladys.
