Geraldine M. "Jerry" Bingham, 87, of East Dubuque, IL, passed away Monday morning, May 5, 2014, at home, with her family by her side, of ovarian cancer.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, on Monday, May 12, 2014, at St. Mary's Church, in East Dubuque, with Fr. Dean Smith officiating.  Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery.

To celebrate Jerry's life, friends may call from 2 P/M to 7 P/M, Sunday, May 11, 2014, at the Miller Funeral Home, in East Dubuque, where a parish rosary will be recited at 1:45 P/M.

Jerry was born on December 8, 1926, in Dubuque, IA, to Charles and Orele (VonDale) Elgin.   She married John N. Bingham on May 17, 1947.  Together they had five (5) children.

Jerry was past president of the St. Mary's Altar & Rosary Society and the East Dubuque VFW Auxillary Post #7976.  She was an avid golfer and bridge player.  She belonged to the Galena Golf Club for 50 years and was in the women's league until last summer when her illness caused her to quit.  She had three (3) holes-in-one throughout her years of golfing.  Over the years Jerry developed a passion for card playing, especially bridge.  She was an excellent player and would rarely pass up an offer to play.  She developed many long lasting friendships.  She will be missed, not only by her family, but by the many friends she made.

Surviving are her husband of 66 years, John N.; her children, John (Judi) Bingham, Jr, of Eagle River, WI, Joan (Jim) Willenbring, of Farley, IA, Judy Newcomer, of Dubuque, IA, Jeff (Kenna) Bingham, of East Dubuque, IL, and Janice (Kevin) Pellow, of Cottage Grove, MN; her nine (9) grandchildren, Terry Bingham, Tim (Jessica) Bingham, Amy (Scott) Meskimen, Sarah (Jayme) Mescher, Scott (Lisa) Willenbring, Ashley (Andrew) Dirksen, Cody Newcomer, Ryan and Kaitlin Pellow; and fifteen (15) great-grandchildren, Isaac and Egan Bingham, Cayden, Connor, Olivia and Owen Meskimen, Kacie, Madeline, Abigail and Alex Mescher, Tanis, Johnaton and Jacob Willenbring, Landon and Logan Dirksen; and one (1) sister, Rosemary Schoen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sister-in-law, William Bingham, Jr, Jerry and Helen Bingham, and Lloyd Bingham; and a son-in-law, Edgar Newcomer.

The family would like to "thank" Hospice of Dubuque, especially Megan, Barb, Lisa, and Peggy, for the care and support they gave our wife, mother, and family thoughout her illness.

She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future!
