Gerald E. "Jerry" Wiederhold, 55, of Dickeyville, WI, passed away Monday, June 9, 2014, at home, following a brief illness, surrounded by his family.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Holy Ghost Church, in Dickeyville, WI, with the Rev Bernard Rott officiating. Burial will be in Holy Ghost Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 P/M to 8 P/M, on Friday, June 13, 2014, at the Miller Funeral Home, in East Dubuque, IL, where the parish scripture service will be at 2:45 P/M.
Jerry was born on October 6, 1958, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Firmin "Pat" and Eldeen M. (Bauer) Wiederhold. He was a graduate of Wahlert High School, in Dubuque, and the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
On October 7, 1994, he was united in marriage to Cindy Vaassen at Holy Ghost Church in Dickeyville. He was the store manager of the Shopko Store in Lancaster, WI.
Jerry loved baseball and was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan. While at Wahlert High School he participated in baseball, basketball and track. He loved photography, enjoyed to travel, and was very interested in history. Along with his love of photography was his love of lighthouses and his quest to see as many as possible. Also, "His love for the nieces and nephews was so great that he considered them his own children". Jerry was a selfless, kind and loving husband, brother and uncle. There was nothing more important to him than his family. Jerry and Cindy spent many hours attending school and sporting events of their nieces and nephews. He was a member of Holy Ghost Parish.
Surviving are his wife, Cindy; his siblings, Kathy Hannan, of Epworth, IA, Steven (Debra) Wiederhold, of Saco, ME, Tom Wiederhold, of Dubuque, IA, and Mary (Roger) Edwards, of Madison, WI; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Steve (Carol) Vaassen, of Dubuque, IA, Jan Vaassen, of Potosi, WI, Mary (Brian) Siegenthaler, of New Glarus, WI, Jamie (Amanda) Vaassen, of Kieler, WI; a step-brother, Thomas (Kelly) Bastis, of Hiram, GA; a step-sister, Nikki (Cole) Kaiser, of Sinsinawa, WI; and step-mother-in-law, Pat (Bruce) Mundschenk, of Dubuque, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Firmin "Pat" and Eldeen Wiederhold; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gilbert and Marian Vaassen, his sister-in-law, Julie "Peach" Hasken; and his brother-in-law, Marty Vaassen.
In lieu of flowers, a Jerry Wiederhold Memorial Fund has been established.
Cindy and family wish to "thank" Hospice of Dubuque for the wonderful care and compassion provided to Jerry.
