Georgean T "Jean" Reisen, 83, of East Dubuque, IL, entered peacefully into eternal life at 10:45 P/M, on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at home, surrounded by her family, following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at St. Mary's Church, in East Dubuque, with Fr. Dean Smith officiating.  Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2:30 P/M to 8 P/M, on Monday, January 9, 2017, at St. Mary's Church, 170 Montgomery Avenue, in East Dubuque, where the parish rosary will be recited at 2 P/M.  Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 9 A/M to 10 A/M at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque.

Jean was born on January 12, 1933, in Dickeyville, WI, the daughter of Michael and Clara (Kowalski) Hinderman.  She was united in marriage to Ralph A. "Tojo" Reisen on Septemer 18, 1950, at St. Mary's Church.  He preceded her in death on March 8, 2000.

She was a member of St. Mary's Parish and its Altar & Rosary Society.

As for a formal education, Jean was a perfect example that you didn't need a formal education to "truly be wise".  Jean lived her life for her Faith, Family and Friends and put all their needs in front of her own.  Known affectionaltely as "Grandma Jean" to even the neighborhood kids, she was the best baker and popcorn ball maker in town.  She cleaned and babysat for many families and after raising her family, graduated from Rich's Bakery School at the age of 58 and worked baking at Van's Liquor Store.  She won the 2015 Chicago Tribune Holiday Baking Competition for her Ginger Snap cookies.  Jean was a loving mother, grandma and great-grandma.  She will be sadly missed by so many.

Surviving are five (5) sons, Ron (Joanne) Reisen, of Tucson, AZ, Dan (Anne) Reisen, of Iowa City, IA, Ken (Lisa) Reisen, of Bettendorf, IA, Timothy "T.J." (Amy) Reisen, of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Ted Reisen, of East Dubuque, IL; eight (8) daughters, Donna (Ronald "Sam") Fluhr, of Asbury, IA, Diane (Jerry) Trannel, of Batavia, IL, Lynn (Mike) Noonan, of Cascade, IA, Patty (Bob) Freese, of Marion, IA, Gail Johnston, of East Dubuque, IL, Mary (Roger) Berning, of Cuba City, WI, Joleen Reisen, of East Dubuque, IL, and Tammy (Kevin) Barry, of Oglesby, IL; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Reisen, of Tucson, AZ; sisters, Lucille (Don) Jackson and Germaine Hayes, both of East Dubuque, IL; brothers, Jerome Hinderman, of Cuba City, WI, Norman (Shirley) Hinderman and Val Hinderman, both of East Dubuque, IL; brother-in-laws, Bob Reisen and Paul (Karen) Reisen, both of East Dubuque, IL; sister-in-laws, Jo (Bob) Powers, of East Dubuque, IL, and Arlene Reisen, of Dubuque, IA; forty-two (42) grandchildren; and thirty-nine (39) great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Clara; her husband, Ralph (Tojo); her sons, Ralph Reisen, Jr. and an infant son, Thomas Joseph Reisen; a sister, Rosella Roth; in-laws, Betty Rogers, William Reisen, Alverna Hinderman, Merlin Hayes, and Merlin Roth.

In lieu of flowers, a Georgean T. Reisen Memorial Fund has been established.

A "special" "thank-you" to Dr. Mark Moore and his staff for all the compassion shown to our Mom and family as we discovered the diagnosis and beyond.  And to the caring hands of the team from Hospice of Dubuque, we are forever grateful for the support and help you provided us to care for Mom at home as she wished.  Thank you!
