Genevieve L. Oberhoffer, 80, of East Dubuque, IL, passed away at 10:50 A/M, Saturday, July 27, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinic, Iowa City, IA, surrounded by her family
Funeral services will be at 11 A/M, Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 P/M to 7 P/M, Tuesday, July 30, 2013, and after 10 A/M, Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque.
Mrs. Oberhoffer was born on October 22, 1932, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Louis and Sophia (Hiher) Freisinger. She was united in marriage to Russell J. Oberhoffer on July 16, 1951, at St. Joseph's Church in Dubuque. In June they had celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.
Genevieve was a homemaker, formerly owned the Oky-Doky Store in Galena, and was employed at the Sinsinawa Mound Day Care Center.
She loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly. Genevieve enjoyed reading, fishing, going out to eat and shopping with family members, watching Jeopardy, pitching horseshoes, and the watching the cardinals in her yard.
Surviving are her husand, Russell; five children, Pat (Joe) Willis, of Menominee, IL, Pam Thomas and Steve (Sue) Oberhoffer, both of Dubuque, IA, Jody (Mike) Bradley, of East Dubuque, IL, and Paula (Keith) Kaiser, of Galena, IL; 11 Grandchildren, Teresa Smith, Sarah Engle, Eydie Timmerman, Dawn Weber, Steven & Scott Oberhoffer, Andy Bradley, Erin Fiedler, Jennifer, Tyler and Chris Kaiser; 16 Great- Grandchildren; one sister, Eleanor (Vern) McGrath, of Dubuque, IA; two brothers, Joe (Rosie) Freisinger, of Oklahoma and Dick Freisinger, of Anchorage, AK.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Russell Thomas; three brothers, Louis, Dutch, and Earl Freisinger; and an infant sister.
A Genevieve L. Oberhoffer Memorial Fund has been established.
