Faye Allyn (Getman) Stoewer, 82, of Roseville, MN, formerly of Moline, IL, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, William "Bill" and her brother, Charles. She is survived by her son, Greg (Mary) and children, Yiyuan and Lai Xin, and son, Jon (Cindy) and children, Alex and Rachel, as well as a brother-in-law, Red and his four daughters in Maine, and a sister-in-law, Anastasia and her daughter of Chicago.
Faye was a caring, loving mother and grandmother. She grew up in Chicago, raised family in Moline, IL, and recently moved to Roseville, MN. Her education included a Master's Degree in Library Science.
Faye brought music and arts into our family. Faye played bass violin at polka's and as an inaugual member of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, and sang in the Handel Oratorio Society's Messiah (Rock Island, IL) and North Suburban Chorus (Roseville, MN). She was a librarian (Fine Arts, Science and Technology) at the Rock Island Library, and a volunteer at the Putnam Museum. Faye and Bill were frequent travelers to Mexico and Europe. They wintered in Tempe, AZ, for 30 years.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at Faith Lutheran Church, 1611 41st Street, Moline, with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena, IL at 11:30 A/M, Thursday, August 2, 2012. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Faith Lutheran Church, 1611 41st Street, Moline, IL 61265 or Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church, 1509 27th Avenue NE, Minneapolis, MN 55418
