Evelyn E. (Schmidt) Brant, 92, of the Dubuque Nursing & Rehab Center, Dubuque, IA, formerly of Dickeyville, WI, passed away at 2:40 P/M, on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Dubuque Nursing & Rehab Center.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, in Dickeyville, with Fr. Bernard Rott officiating. Burial will be in Holy Ghost Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 P/M to 8 P/M, on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, and from 8:45 A/M - 9:45 A/M, on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at the Miller Funeral Home, in East Dubuque, IL, where the parish prayer service will be on Tuesday at 3:45 P/M.

Evelyn was born on August 25, 1922, near Springbrook, IA, the daughter of Florian and Clara (Steines) Schmidt. She was united in marriage to Clifford H. Brant on May 9, 1945, at Ss. Peter & Paul Church, in Springbrook. He preceded her in death on April 29, 2002.

Evelyn was a homemaker who loved sewing, cooking, gardening, and was known for her beautiful pies. She was a member of Holy Ghost Parish and a former member of the Legion of Mary. Evelyn served as sacrastin for Fr. Francis Steffen while living at Sun Valley Apartments.

Surviving are three (3) children, Shirley Seeley, of Dubuque, IA, John (Jane) Brant, of Cuba City, WI, and Mark (Sandy) Brant, of Benton, WI; eleven (11) grandchildren; twelve (12) great-grandchildren; her brother, Fr. Florian Schmidt, of Dubuque, IA; and a sister, Marie (Oscar) Donar, of Cuba City, WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford H. Brant; a son-in-law, John Seeley; three (3) brothers, Fr. Wilfred W. Schmidt, Paul Schmidt and Floyd Schmidt; and two (2) sisters, Gilda (Cliff) Martelle and Myrna (Ken) Pumphrey.

Evelyn's family wishes to "thank" the nurses and staff at Dubuque Nursing & Rehab Center and Hospice of Dubuque for the special care and support given to their Mother.
