Ervin W. Splinter, 69, of Eldridge, IA, formerly of East Dubuque, IL, passed away at 1:19 P/M, on Sunday, August 30, 2015, at Genesis Medical Center West, Davenport, IA.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, on Thursday, September 3, 2015, at St. Ann's Church, Long Grove, IA, with Msgr. Drake Shafer officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ann's Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:30 P/M to 7:00 P/M, on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at the Chambers Funeral Home, in Eldridge, IA, where the parish prayer service will be at 4:30 P/M. Visitation will also be after 9:30 A/M, on Thursday, at the church.

Ervin was born on November 25, 1945, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Ervin J. and Lillian (Schroeder) Splinter. He was united in marriage to Norma Ricke on November 26, 1966, at Nativity BVM Church, in Menominee, IL.

Ervin was a 1964 graduate of the East Dubuque High School. He was formerly a meat cutter for Randall's Foods in Dubuque, Clinton and Davenport, and also worked for Save-A-Lot in Davenport. Ervin also worked as a bartender at Fairyland Ballroom in Long Grove.

Surviving are his wife, Norma; four (4) children, Lisa (Mike) Ford, of North Liberty, IA, Rick (Missy) Splinter, of Marion, IA, Beth (Eric) Salyars, of Eldridge, IA, and Mary (Randy) Denklau, of Davenport, IA; nine (9) grandchildren, Michael & Amanda Coglan, Ashley Ford, Tyler & Brenna Splinter, Erica & Haley Salyars, Matthew Heeren and Jeremy Denklau; a sister, Linda (Mel) Spoerre; and a brother-in-law, Vince "Jiggs" Hoftender, of East Dubuque, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents;, Ervin J. and Lillian Splinter; three (3) sisters, Rita Cavanaugh, Marie Hoag and Modesta "Sis" Hoftender; and two (2) brothers, Jim and Bob Splinter.

Norma and her family with to "thank" Medic Ambulance and the Eldridge Fire Department for their quick response and kindness.
