Obituary

Elizabeth "Bette" Koser, of Luther Manor, Dubuque, IA, and formerly of Galena, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, October 12, 2015, at the age of 84. She was reunited with her husband of sixty-two (62) years on what would have been his 86th birthday.

Funeral Services will be at 1 P/M, on Thursday, October 15, 2015, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, in Galena, with the Rev. Stacy Cavanaugh officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena.

Visitation will be from 3 P/M to 7 P/M, on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at the Miller & Steinke Funeral Home, Galena, and after 12 Noon, on Thursday, at the church.

Bette was born on January 3, 1931, in Byron, IL, the daughter of Ralph and Lauretta (Kern) LaBore. She married Glenn Koser on February 14, 1953, in Peoria, IL.

Bette grew up in the restaurant business and worked for her parents who owned the L & L Cafe. When Bette and Glenn married, they owned Koser's Greenhouse, in Galena, until 1965. She continued to work in the restaurant business until her retirement.

Bette was known for her baking and knitting and enjoyed sharing both with family and friends and loved the Cubs. Bette liked bingo, music and socializing and was known for her ease in frequent conversation even with total strangers. Family and friends were Bette's passion and delight.

Surviving are her seven (7) children, Gail Bennett (fiance', Doug Schultz), Nancy Foley, and Janine (Ron) Berning, all of Galena, IL, Gloria Schemehorn, of Ottawa, IL, Glenn "Bud" (Jill) Koser, Jr, of Cedar Rapids, IA, Jim Koser, of Newton, IA, and Allison (Mark) Schuster, of Dubuque, IA; nineteen (19) grandchildren; twenty-three (23) great grandchildren; four (4) great-great grandchildren; and a brother, Charles (Sandy) LaBore, of Rockford, IL.

Bette was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; her parents; a sister, Linda Chapman; a brother-in-law, Don Chapman; and a sister-in-law, Pat LaBore.

Bette's family would like to "thank" the wonderful staff at Luther Manor that gave her so much love.
