Elizabeth L. "Betty" Hingtgen, 88, of Dubuque, IA, formerly of Dickeyville, WI, passed away on Thursday morning, May 16, 2019, at Stonehill Care Center, in Dubuque.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 A/M, on Monday, May 20, 2019, at Holy Ghost Church, in Dickeyville, with Fr. Bernard Rott officiating. Burial will be in Holy Ghost Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 P/M to 6 P/M, on Sunday, May 19, 2019, at the Miller Funeral Home, in East Dubuque, where the Parish Prayer Service will be at 1:45 P/M, Sunday. Visitation will also be from 9:30 A/M to 10:45 A/M, on Monday, May 20, 2019, at the church.
Betty was born on January 3, 1931, near Sherrill, IA, the daughter of Charles and Regina (Nauman) Schueller. She was united in marriage to LaVerne Hingtgen on August 25, 1951, at Ss. Peter & Paul Church, in Sherrill. He preceded her in death on August 15, 1984.
Betty was formerly employed at Frommelt Industries. She was a member of St. Anthony's Parish in Dubuque, and a former member of Holy Ghost Parish in Dickeyville and its Christian Mothers Sodality. She was active in her parish as a lector and Eucharistic Minister, also led the rosary before Mass, and worked in the Grotto Flower Gardens for many years. She spent many hours in her own Spring Flower Gardens.
Surviving are six children, Susan (Mark) Bohlen, of East Dubuque, IL, Cathy (Ken) Splinter, of Platteville, WI, Mary Lynn (Ron) Pickel, of St. Paul, MN, Gary (Rita) Hingtgen, of Kieler, WI, James (Kathy) Hingtgen, of Urbandale, IA, and Dave (Jane) Hingtgen, of Kieler, WI; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Bradley, Kyle, Kelly, Courtney, Keri Lynn, and Reid; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marilyn (James) Lansing, of Dubuque, IA, and Annette Schmitt, of East Dubuque, IL.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Regina; her husband, LaVerne; two grandsons, Jesse Splinter and Ryan Hingtgen; her siblings, Geraldine McDonough, Bernadette Wernke, Richard and Jerome Schueller.
Betty's family wishes to "thank" the nurses and staff at Stonehill Care Center, especially Marilyn, Brandi, & Tina, and the nurses and staff from Hospice of Dubuque, including Sara and Amy, for the wonderful care given to their mother and grandmother.
