Edith Annella (Norman) Dayton, 97 years old, of Galena, IL, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, September 29, 2017, at the Galena Stauss Senior Care Community.
Annella was born on September 27, 1920, in Eddyville, IA, the eldest child of Frank and Pearl (Whitsel) Norman and graduated from Galena High School in 1938. She married John R. Dayton on June 17, 1944. Annella enjoyed playing piano, knitting, crocheting, puzzles and seamstress work. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, volunteered at the Galena Stauss Hospital gift shop, delivered meals on wheels and helped with fundraising for Rainbow Ridge.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (James) Stodden, Galena, IL; daughter-in-law, Nancy Dayton, of East Dubuque, IL; sister, Hylene Anderson, of Dubuque, IA; six (6) granddaughters, Michelle (Michael) Houy, Melisa (Ron) Hammer, Martha (Art) Thompson, Monica (Todd) Evans, Renee (Frank) Reddington and Katie Dayton; great-grandchildren, Jennifer (Houy) Petersen, Amanda (Houy) Gries, Tristen (Hammer) Travis, Seth Hammer, Anna (DeCosta) Hopkins, Charlie DeCosta, Justine Thompson, Gabby and Brooke Bingham, Grace Evans, Jacob and Tristan Evans, Hannah and J D Reddington, Samantha Dayton, Skylar and Tucker Nestaby; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Durrell and Richard Dayton; brothers, Orville and Leonard Norman; and a sister, Joan Norman.
Funeral Services will be at 10 A/M, on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at Crossroads Community Church, 900 Galena Square Drive, in Galena, with Pastor Bill Longmore officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, in Galena.
Friends may call from 4 P/M to 7 P/M, on Monday, October 2, 2017., at Crossroads Community Church.
The Miller Funeral Home, in East Dubuque, is serving the family.
