Doris was born on October 1, 1930, in Menominee, IL, to Emil & Florence (Welp) Hilby. She attended grade school in Menominee and high school at the Sinsinawa Mound. On February 7, 1950, she married LaVern Kuhle and they spent the next sixty-six (66) years making a home and raising a family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Doris worked at the Red Top Supper Club, Clarke College and Mercy Medical Center, but "raising the kids" was her life's work. Homemaking, gardening and flower arranging were her passion. Family gatherings were always top priority.
Those left behind to honor her memory are her husband, LaVern; their children, Pat (Tom) Fleege, Diane O'Shea, Steve Kuhle, Rick (Karen) Kuhle, Dan (Claire) Kuhle, Mary Jo (Beaner) Runde, Ron (Carolyn) Kuhle, Kate (Bill) Vickerman, Ken (Jane) Kuhle, and Tina (Kim Anderson) Kuhle; twenty-five (25) grandchildren; twenty-six (26) great-grandchildren; siblings, Ione (Ralph) Turman, Sister Carol Hilby, OSF, Mary Ann (Paul) Burbach, Jack (Rose) Hilby, Mark Hilby and Joan Hilby.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Florence; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Jerry Kowalski; grandchildren, Adam Runde, Alex Kuhle; siblings, Robert Hilby, Margie Burroughs; in-laws, Bernard & Jackie Kuhle, Joe Klein, Roger Tranel and Bill Burroughs.
A Doris M. Kuhle Memorial Fund has been established.
LaVern and family extend a "special thank you" to the staff at Epione Pavilion for their loving care of our wife and mother.
"Gentle woman, quiet light, morning star so strong and bright, gentle mother, peaceful dove, teach us wisdom, teach us love."
