Obituary

Mrs. John (Donna M.) Diedrich, 86, formerly of Scales Mound, IL, passed away at 9:25 A/M, Saturday, May 24, 2014, at the Galena-Stauss Senior Care Community, Galena, IL.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 A/M, on Thursday, May 29, 2014, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, in Apple River, IL, with Fr. Chris Kuhn, Fr. Max Striedl, Fr. Max Lasrado, Fr. JoJi Reddy, Fr. David Beauvais and Msgr. Everett Hiller officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Apple River.

Visitation will be from 4 P/M to 8 P/M, on Wednesday, May 28th, and from 10 A/M to 10:45 A/M, on Thursday, May 29th, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, in Apple River, where the parish rosary will be recited at 3:45 P/M, on Wednesday, May 28th.

The Miller & Steinke Funeral Home, Scales Mound, IL, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Diedrich was born on November 8, 1927, at DeKalb, IL, the daughter of George and Gertrude (Dennis) Groves. She was a graduate of DeKalb High School. Donna married John F. Diedrich, on April 30, 1949, at St. Mary's Church, in DeKalb.

Her hobbies included sewing, reading, playing Solitare, and she was very close to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and John formerly farmed near Sycamore, IL, and later East of Scales Mound for many years.

Surviving are her husband, John F. Diedrich, of the Galena-Stauss Assisted Living Center; eight (8) children, Jean (Paul) Wigart, of Powder Springs, GA, John M. (Melanie) Diedrich, of Sycamore, IL, Steven (Lynette) Diedrich, of Gratiot, WI, David (Sue) Diedrich, of Scales Mound, IL, Joseph (Lisa) Diedrich and Susan (Bill) Corley, both of Shullsburg, WI, George (Patricia) Diedrich, of Sycamore, IL, and Arthur (Peggy) Diedrich, of Shullsburg, WI; twenty (20) grandchildren, Sarah, Christine, Rebecca, Chamberlin, Jennifer, Hannah, Jason, John Paul, Angeline, Jeremiah, Brian, Katherine, Jack, Leslie, Mariah, Joshua, Erik, Courtney, Mary and Ryan; ten (10) great-grandchildren; her siblings, Jane Bastian, of DeKalb, IL, and Margie (Roger) Mohrman, of Quincy, IL; and a sister-in-law, Eleanor (Burton) Rempfer, of DeKalb, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Barbara Wallin; two brothers-in-law, Carl Wallin and Bill Bastian; and by John's siblings, Mary Margaret (Oliver) Carpenter, Loras (Doris) Diedrich, Robert and his late wife, Gwyn, and (Phyllis) Diedrich, Arthur Diedrich, and Cal (Eileen) Gillen.

John and his family would like to express their "appreciation" to the nurses and staff from Hospice of Dubuque, Midwest Medical Center, Galena-Stauss Senior Care Community and Assisted Living Center, for the excellent care provided to their wife and mother.
