Obituary

Don C. Droessler, 69, of Dickeyville, WI, passed away at 2:57 A/M, on Monday, September 22, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, IA, of an apparent heart attack.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, on Thursday, September 25, 2014, at Holy Ghost Church, Dickeyville, with Fr. Bernard Rott officiating. Burial will be in Holy Ghost Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 P/M to 8 P/M, on Wednesday, September 24th, and from 8:45 A/M to 9:45 A/M, on Thursday, September 25th, at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, IL, where the parish rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 2:30 P/M.

Don was born on July 14, 1945, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Gene F. and Rita K. (Ulbrich) Droessler. He was united in marriage to Janice Tranel on August 20, 1966, at St. Mary's Church, in East Dubuque.

For the majority of Don's life, he took pride in farming. He farmed for a better part of 40 years. For the past fifteen (15) years, he had been employed at Rite Hite in Dubuque until his retirement in May of 2014.

Don enjoyed playing cards, watching the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers. He always looked forward to time spent with his family, especially the grandchildren. Don loved watching the Andy Griffith shows and played softball in his younger years. He also played saxophone with the Gene Droessler Band.

Surviving are his wife, Janice; six (6) children, Doug (Teresa) Droessler, of Cuba City, WI, Matt (Shannon) Droessler, of Hazel Green, WI, Amy (Greg) Wolfe, of Newark, DE, Julie (Jim) Beck, of Dayton, OH, Chris (Bobbie) Droessler, of Dickeyville, WI, and Pete (Sara) Droessler, of Montfort, WI; fifteen (15) grandchildren, Jennifer, Joseph, Bethany, Wyatt, Garrett, Everett, Gretchen, Brady, Sophia, Stephen, Alex, Erika, Blake, Abigail, and Isaac; his siblings, Eugene (Loni) Droessler, Jr. and Maureen (Carl-deceased) Pickel, both of Cuba City, WI, Mark (Susan) Droessler, of Dickeyville, WI, Bruce (Mary Jo) Droessler, of Cuba City, WI, Eric (Terry) Droessler, of Davenport, IA, and Luke (Suzanne) Droessler, of Potosi, WI; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Andrew Droessler; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Florence (Majerus) Tranel.

Janice and family wish to "thank" the Dickeyville Rescue Squad for their quick response and the nurses and staff at Mercy Medical Center for their care and compassion.
