Obituary

Mrs. William "Milt" (Dolores A.) Manley, 98, of East Dubuque, IL, and formerly of 789 Chestnut Street, Dubuque, IA, passed away at 3:25 P/M, Saturday, July 12, 2014, at the Bell Tower Retirement Community, in East Dubuque.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at St. Mary's Church, in East Dubuque, with Fr. Francis Steffen officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Key West, IA.

Visitation will be after 9:30 A/M, on Tuesday, July 15th, at St. Mary's Church, in East Dubuque.

The Miller Funeral Home, in East Dubuque, is in charge of arrangements.

Dolores was born on October 16, 1915, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Emil & Elizabeth (Russ) Henschel. She married William Milton Manley on December 30, 1937, at Sacred Heart Church, in Dubuque, IA. He preceded her in death on February 19, 1995. Dolores and Milt moved from Dubuque to the Frentress Lake area of East Dubuque and resided there since 1975.

She was a member of St. Mary's Parish and the Altar & Rosary Society, and was a former member of Nativity Parish and the Rosary Society, in Dubuque. Dolores was a member of several organizations, amongst them, the Catholic Daughters of America - Our Lady of Victory Court #351, the Tuesday Euchre Club, the Monthly 500 Club, the Wednesday morning "Strikers" Bowling Club, the Mercy Hospital Guild, and the Pickwick Club. She was formerly employed at Henschel Hardware Store and later, for 28 years, at Montgomery Ward & Company, as an auditor and department manager.

Surviving is one son, William E. (Jonie) Angell-Manley, of Atlanta, GA; her son-in-law, Gerald (Carolyn Gantz) Ihm, of Dubuque, IA; nine (9) Grandchildren, William R. Manley, of Trenton, NJ, Amy Jo Christman, of Houston, TX, Dr. Kelley (Andy) Frank, of Chicago, IL, Michelle (Jeff) Espinoza, of Madison, WI, Daniel (Sheri) Ihm, of Wichita, KS, Gretchen (Nate) Garcia and Andrea Jewell, both of Denver, CO, D. Chris (Susan) Jewell, of Matthews, NC, and Angell (Robbie) Bomar, of Cincinnati, OH; twenty-three Great-Grandchildren; her siblings, Margaret Dolson, of Dubuque, IA and Richard Henschel, of Colleyville, TX; her in-laws, Ward Harstick, of Clinton, IA, Frank Hovar, of Roscoe, IL, and Bernice Henschel, of Winnebago, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Elizabeth; a daughter, Lorlee A. Ihm, on December 26, 1995; her siblings, Mary Jane Harstick, Eileen Richmond, Cathleen Hovar, and Emil Henschel; her in-laws, Henry Dolson, Robert Richmond and Jean Henschel.

Memorials may be given to St. Mary's Church, in East Dubuque, IL.

Dolores' family would like to extend "special thanks" to Dr. Matthew Kirkendall, the staff of Bell Tower Retirement Community, The Finley Hospital, and Hospice of Dubuque, for the excellent care given to their mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother.
