Delores was born on August 27, 1926, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Arnold and Alvina (Nauman) Schueller.
Delores married Philip E. Kauffmann on June 25, 1946, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dubuque. He preceded her in death on May 21, 2006. Her commitment to her marriage was an example to all of us. Through good times and bad she was a loving and caring wife. Philip and Delores started farming in Asbury, IA, before buying a farm near Kieler, WI, where they made a life and a legacy. She loved to quilt and play cards. She was absolutely loved and adored by her grandkids and her great-grandkids who lovingly called her "Old Grandma". Delores was truly the matriarch of her family.
In addition to the help she provided on the farm, she was also a great cook. She will always be remembered for her schmant kuchen, homemade donuts, and cinnamon rolls. Delores was known for her hospitality and generosity. She would welcome company with a delicious meal, a freshly made dessert, and cold drink. She remained close to her family and friends and enjoyed getting together to socialize and visit. When you were at her home you ate until you were full and then you ate some more.
Delores was a devout Catholic who prayed the rosary thousands of times throughout her life.
Surviving are six daughters, Rosie (Jim) Bechen and Sue (Marty) Fleege, both of rural Kieler, WI, Betty (Gary) Noel, of Jefferson City, TN, Judy (John) Piddington, of Hazel Green, WI, Diane (Dennis) Birkel, of Sherrill, IA, and Joan Tranel (Mike Bellrichard), of Louisburg, WI. She considered her seven sons-in-law to be her sons. Also surviving are sixteen (16) grandchildren, Jenni (David) Ginter, Jeff (Sara) Bechen, Jeremy (Tasha) Bechen, Jessi (Ryan) Soppe, Mike Noel, Tim (Shelly) Noel, Sara (Ben) Hanten, Kenny (Rachel) Fleege, Brian and Jason Piddington, Tammi Breitbach, Nicholas (Kristi) Birkel, Travis (Stephanie) Tranel, Andrew, Kate and Molly Tranel; twenty seven (27) great- grandchildren; three (3) sisters, Pearl Kauffmann, of Farley, IA, Donna (Glen) Koetz and Alvina "Butch" (Don) Skelton, of Dubuque, IA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Maurice "Hap" (Bernette) Kauffmann, Roger Kauffmann, Marie Schueller, all of Dubuque, IA, Mary Margaret Kauffmann, of Denver, CO; many nieces and nephews; and two foreign exchange granchildren, Mitsuru (Miki) Shimizu and Dalton Hall.
