Debra Jean Baker, 71, of Dubuque, IA, passed away at 12:36 p.m., on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at UIHC, Iowa City, Iowa following a sudden illness.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The Dubuque Shooting Society, 10380 US 52 N, on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 4pm until 6pm.

The Miller Funeral Home of East Dubuque, IL is assisting the family.

Deb was born on January 19, 1953, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Albert J. and Mary C. (Becker) Meyer. She was a graduate of Hempstead Senior High School,  the Class of 1971.

She was formerly employed by the Dubuque Community School District in the Food Service Department, until her retirement.

She was very devoted to her children and grandchildren. She loved a good game of cards, especially Rummy, Skyjo, and Phase 10 and was a fierce competitor. Deb was selfless and kind. She always put the needs of her family first and would do anything she could to help someone in need.

Surviving are her children, Meggan (Ken) Miller, Nick (Tara) Baker, and Hayley (Ben) McAuliffe; her six grandchildren, Michael, Ava, Sophia, Brody, Bryce, and Amelia; her siblings, Kris (Jeff) Hamel, Dan Meyer, Julie (Dave) Cummings, and Tressa (Dennis) George.

Deb was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Mary; and a sister, Cindy Hanten.
