Daniel P. "Dan" Bresnahan, 77, of Dickeyville, WI, passed away Saturday morning, January 4, 2014, at home.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, Thursday, January 9, 2014, at Holy Ghost Church, in Dickeyville, with Rev. Bernard Rott and Rev. Francis Steffen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by members of VFW, Post #6455.
Friends may call from 4 P/M to 8 P/M, on Wednesday, January 8th, at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, IL, where the parish scripture service will be at 3:45 P/M, Wednesday. Friends may also call from 9:15 A/M to 10:15 A/M, Thursday, January 9th, at the church.
Dan was born on March 30, 1936, in Waukon, IA, the son of Clement and Ella (Phalen) Bresnahan. He was a 1955 graduate of Prairie du Chien High School, and was united in marriage to Darlene Fox on August 27, 1956, at St. Gabriel Church, in Prairie du Chien.
He loved hunting, fishing, vacationing, being with family, and was a unique story teller. Dan enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre. He was an avid Notre Dame and Green Bay Packers fan. He always made time for children and loved farming "The Hill Climb Farm".
Dan was formerly employed at John Deere Dubuque Works as a supervisor, retiring in 1986. He served in the Air Force from 1956-1960, and was a member of VFW, Post #6455.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Darlene; three children, Kathy Bresnahan, of Iowa City, IA, Craig Bresnahan, of Madison, WI, and David (Mindy) Bresnahan, of Clayton, NC; 5 Grandchildren, Brianna Bresnahan, Michael Atwater, Justin Bresnahan, Sasha Porcel, and Ashley Bresnahan; 1 Great-Grandchild, Raelyn; a sister, Donna Meier, of Madison, WI; a brother, Art (Judy) Bresnahan, of Verona, WI; several nieces and nephews, with a special relationship with his nephew, Bruce Meier; a sister-in-law, Delores Bonney, of Prairie du Chien, WI; and special friends, Ron Burbach & Joan Kruser.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clement and Ella; a niece, Linda Meier; and brothers-in-law, John Meier and Rod Bonney.
