Clint D. Sitzmann, 20, of Galena, died at 1:16 A/M, Monday, July 9, 2012, with his loving family and friends by his side at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque, after he courageously battled cancer for three years and has now moved on to heaven with family and friends who have gone before him. He brought laughter and happiness to everyone around him.
Services will be at 10 A/M, Friday, July 13, at the Galena Bible Church, 11108 Rt 20 West, with Pastor Jared Hendricks and the Rev. Stacy Cavanaugh officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P/M, Thursday, July 12, at the Galena Bible Church. Miller & Steinke Funeral Home, Galena, is in charge of arrangements.
Clint was born on October 30, 1991, in Dubuque, son of Peter and Susan (Muchow) Sitzmann. He was a graduate of Galena High School, class of 2010. He was vice-president of the student council and a member of the National Honor Society. He also attended Elmhurst College, in Elmhurst, IL, where he was part of Lambda Fraternity.
Clint enjoyed football and loved to watch the Green Bay Packers. He was an Eagle Scout and a lifeguard at the Galena Waterpark. He also was a deacon at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Galena.
Clint enjoyed fishing, being with his friends, sports and being outdoors.
He will be deeply missed by his parents, Peter and Susan; his siblings, Kailyn (Dalton Montgomery) and Kristen (Ben Hulscher), all of Galena; his girlfriend, Lindsey Bogardus, of Villa Park; his grandpartents, Ralph and Jean Muchow and Dale Hillary, all of Galena; and many aunts, uncles and cousins who share in our loss, and two very special people, Connie and Elly.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marvin and Virginia Sitzmann; an uncle, Douglas Sitzmann; and an aunt, Georgia Sitzmann.
In lieu of flowers, a Clint D. Sitzmann Memorial Fund has been established.
Clint's family would like to express their appreciation of the outpouring of sympathy, support and kindness from family, friends and neighbors. It has been overwhelming and we are so grateful. Thank you all!
