Obituary

Cletus E. "Clete" Dalsing, 77, of Dubuque, IA, formerly of Dickeyville, WI, passed away, on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at home.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 A/M, on Friday, August 5, 2016, at St. Mary's Church, in East Dubuque, with Fr. Dean Smith officiating. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 P/M to 7 P/M, on Thursday, August 4, 2016, at the Miller Funeral Home, in East Dubuque, where the parish scripture service will be at 3:45 P/M, Thursday.

Cletus was born on October 14, 1938, in Jamestown Township, Grant County, WI, the son of Cletus H. and Frieda K. (Ihm) Dalsing. He was a graduate of Loras Academy, Class of 1956.

He married Peggy Cullen, on October 24, 1959, at St. Mary's Church, in East Dubuque. Clete worked for the Kieler Garage, in Kieler, WI, for thirty (30) years, including ten (10) years as their Service Manager. While at the Kieler Garage, Clete was awarded the highest level of General Motors customer service achievement awards, as well as many technical certifications. Clete achieved the level of "GM Certified Master Technician", as well as the recipient of the General Motors "Best of the Best" award on multiple occasions, a recognition awarded to only a select few top level GM mechanics. Clete later worked as a Lead Mechanic for the Dubuque Community School's Building and Grounds Department, retiring in 2011. Clete's passion for excellence to always do his best inspired his family to always do and be their best.

Clete loved being a mechanic and working on cars. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, was always an avid Dale Earnhardt fan, while also cheering for all the "bow ties" in the race over the years, plus he enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Clete also played many sports, including baseball, softball, basketball, bowling and golf.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy; four (4) children, Keith (Dr. Kathryn) Dalsing and Kurt (Deb) Dalsing, both of Dodgeville, WI, Kelly (Charles) Ripley, of Bettendorf, IA, and Karlyn (Todd) Ollendick, of Iowa City, IA; nine (9) grandchildren, Beth, Carson, Graham, Stephanie, Megan, Mitchell, Noah, Jenna and Katie; a sister, Kay (Bob) Helbing; and a brother, Dan Dalsing, both of Platteville, WI.

Clete was prececed in death by his parents, Cletus and Frieda Dalsing; a son, Kent James Dalsing; and two (2) brothers, Ken Dalsing and Jim Dalsing.

The family sends their "gratitude" to the doctors and staff at Medical Associates for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, a Clete Dalsing Memorial Fund has been established.
