Clarence was born on April 30, 1927, in Menominee, the son of Herman and Susan (Bonnet) Ricke. He farmed in Menominee (Sand Ridge area) until 1964. He was employed by Bartels & Byrne as a land surveyor and then at IIW Engineers and Surveyors, P.C., until his retirement in 1993.
On April 29, 1967, he married Mary Dolores Brejcha at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Dubuque. They raised three (3) girls during their (49) years of marriage. He was a member of Nativity BVM Parish, its Holy Name Society, and the Knights of Columbus, Council #7527, of East Dubuque. Clarence loved fishing, gardening, the Chicago Bears, and the 2016 World Champion Chicago Cubs. Clarence was a simple man who believed his faith was as important as the air we breathe, his family was his most prized possession, and working hard was the key to keeping it all together. He instilled these values in his children and grandchildren.
