Friends may call from 9 A/M to 10:30 A/M, Monday, October 22, 2012, at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, IL.

Clarence was born on January 29, 1940, at Hazel Green, WI, the son of Clarence (LeRoy) and Lucille (Donar) Collis. lHe married Audrey (Snyder) Hofbauer on December 3, 1988.

Clarence was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a diesel mechanic for Flexsteel Industries from 1969-2001. Prior to that time he was employed at International Harvester Company and Mutual Wheel. Following retirement he began working at craft shows with his wife for Gary and Ginger Chilcote.

He loved going fishing, hunting, and taking trips on the back roads of the United States. He always said, "You can't see anything on the Interstates but trees and highways". Clarence especially enjoyed the important morning breakfast out with friends. He always gave the grandkids rides on the 4-wheeler. Clarence loved his sweets, and the grandkids knew where to find them, just sneak over to Grandpa's recliner.

His smile, love of life, family and nature, heaven has an absolute gem, one we will eternally miss. You couldn't ask for a better husband, friend, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He loved his family and he loved life, and we loved him.

Surviving are his wife, Audrey; two daughters, Rocksand Pickard, Waterloo, IA, and Lorraine (Richard) Kress, Farley, IA; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; his sister, Barb (Steve) Vogt, Hazel Green, WI; and five nieces and nephews.
