Charles P. "Charlie" Schwarz, 81, of rural Scales Mound, IL, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2016, at FHN Memorial Hospital, in Freeport, IL, following a sudden illness.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 A/M, on Thursday, June 9, 2016, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, in Scales Mound, with Fr. David Reese officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by members of VFW Post #2665 and American Legion Post #193.
Visitation will be from 5 P/M to 8 P/M, on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at the Miller & Steinke Funeral Home, in Scales Mound, and from 9 A/M to 9:45 A/M, on Thursday, at the church.
Charlie was born on November 19, 1934, in Chicago, IL, the son of Walter A. and Isabelle (Greinke) Schwarz. He was a graduate of Eisenhower High School in Blue Island, IL.
He served in the U. S. Army from June 14, 1957, to June 12, 1959.
Charlie was employed by International Harvester Company at Hinsdale, IL, until his retirement. He moved to the Scales Mound area in 1995 and was the owner and grower of Brown Barn Vegetables. Charlie was a member of Chapter 2-Northern Illinois International Collectors.
Surviving are a daughter, Ann Marie James; two (2) grandsons; three (3) great-grandsons; a brother, Edward Schwarz, of Milbank, SD; a sister-in-law, Mary Schwarz, of Mokena, IL; nieces; nephews; and his very close friend and caretaker, Tim Brant, of Scales Mound.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John; a sister, Isabelle Langs; and sister-in-law, Marcia Schwarz.
