Celeste C. (Flogel) Wissing, 90, of Kieler, WI, passed away at 7:25 A/M, Monday, March 10, 2014, at Epione Pavilion, Cuba City, WI.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 A/M, Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, in Kieler, with Rev. Bernard Rott officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Dubuque, IA.
Visitation will be from 4 P/M to 7 P/M, Friday, March 14th, and from 10 A/M to 10:45 A/M, Saturday, March 15th, at the Immaculate Conception Parish Center, in Kieler, where the parish prayer service will be at 3:45 P/M, Friday.
Celeste was born on May 30, 1923, near Platteville, WI, the daughter of John P. and Eleanor (Conter) Flogel. She was united in marriage to Carl J. Wissing on April 22, 1947, at St. Mary's Church, Platteville, WI. He preceded her in death on May 12, 1993.
Celeste and Carl formerly farmed near Elk Grove, WI, until retiring in 1977. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish and its Council of Catholic Women, and a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
She enjoyed quilting and was a member of a quilting club, loved playing cards where she participated in weekly card clubs for many years, gardening, canning, was a excellent cook and loving mother, but the most important part of her life was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchilden.
Surviving are three children, Linda (Tom) Schaaf, of Mineral Point, WI, Larry J. (Dee) Wissing, of Anchorage, AK, and Peggy (Gary) Kieler, of Kieler, WI; seven (7) grandchildren, Terry, Robert (Kim) and Jeremy (Heidi) Schaaf, Mallory and Ryan Wissing, Garett and Kaitlyn Kieler; five (5) great-grandchildren, Terry, Alison, Ben, Kaylee & Grace Schaaf; two (2) step great-grandchildren, Samantha & Anna Burse; her siblings, Rosemary Gassman and John Flogel, both of Platteville, WI, Henry (Delores) Flogel, of Mazomanie, WI, Roy Flogel, of Madison, WI, Luella Vosberg, of Livingston, WI, Robert (Lorraine) Flogel, of Belmont, WI, and Ruth Roling, of Goose Lake, IA; her sister-in-law, Grace Flogel, of Platteville, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John P. and Eleanor Flogel; her husband, Carl; siblings, Olive Wiederholt, Charlotte Miller and Francis Flogel.
A Celeste C. Wissing Memorial Fund has been established.
