Mrs. John (Carol Ann Lolwing) Leibold, 72, of 1 Mosswood Path, Galena, IL, formerly of East Dubuque, IL, died at 3:20 P/M, Sunday, September 16, 2012, at the Bell Tower Retirement Community, East Dubuque, IL, surrounded by her loving family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 A/M, Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at St. Mary's Church, East Dubuque, IL, with the Rev. Daniel Tranel & Rev. James Chappell officiating. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 P/M to 7 P/M, Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, IL, where the parish rosary will be recited at 3 P/M.
Carol was born on February 2, 1940, in Hazel Green, WI, the daugther of Omer and Lucille (Doyle) Lolwing and grew up on the family farm. She was a graduate of Hazel Green High School, class of 1957. She married John H. Leibold on June 18, 1960 at St Francis de Sales Church in Hazel Green.
Carol formerly worked at Eagle Ridge Inn in the banquet department, helped her son, Troy and daughter-in-law JoEllen, start and operate the Subway in East Dubuque, but her most important job was raising her family.
She was a member of St. Mary's Parish in Galena for the past 20 years and prior to that was a 30 year member of St. Mary's Parish in East Dubuque. Carol was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, enjoyed traveling, entertaining family and friends and having a lemon or two. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, John; four children, Laurie (Darreyl) Sedbrook, and their children, Christa, Kayla, and Cody, of Rosemont, MN; John (Jennifer) Leibold III, and their children, Margaret, Annie, Jack, Katherine and George, Sarasota, FL; Gary (JoEllen) Leibold, and their children, Gunnar, Abbie, Shawna and
Garrett, East Dubuque, IL; and Troy (Jackie) Leibold, and their children, Will and Lauren, Dubuque, IA; her siblings, Jerry (Sue) Lolwing, Platteville, WI; and Sharon (James) Schwarz, Madison, WI.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Bradley Joseph, and infant Leibold at childbirth, a granddaughter, Kelly Marie Sedbrook, and a good friend, Shirley Rossing.
The Leibold family would like to thank Dr. Hartmann, Dr. Hermann, and their staff, Hospice of Dubuque, and the staff at the Bell Tower Retirement Community for the special care provided to their wife and mother.
