Obituary

Carol Ann (Ricke) Fluhr, 48, of East Dubuque, IL, passed into eternal life at 2:20 A/M, Monday, May 6, 2013, at home, surrounded by her family, after a hard fought and courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, Thursday, May 9, 2013, at St. Mary's Church, East Dubuque, with Fr. Michael Barry officiating. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 P/M to 8 P/M, Wednesday, May 8, 2013, and from 9 A/M to 10 A/M, Thursday, May 9, 2013, at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, where the parish rosary will be recited at 1:45 P/M, Wednesday.

Carol was born in Dubuque, IA, on November 17, 1964, the daughter of Leonard and Shirley (Wiederholt) Ricke. She grew up and attended grade school in Menominee, IL, attended and graduated from East Dubuque High School in 1983. She continued her education by graduating from NICC in May, 1985, in Bookkeeping and Accounting. She worked many years for Liquid Carbonics and eight (8) years for Kieffer Auto Body and Repair. In between those two employments, Carol was blessed to have touched the lives of many children through her in-home day care center.

On August 20, 1988, Carol married Mark A. Fluhr, and together they had two children, Samantha JoAnne and Austin David.

Aside from her loving family, especially her children, Carol enjoyed crafting, collecting and shaping bittersweet for the Galena Country Fair, bingo with her mother, family gatherings, and being surrounded by friends. Her friendliness, kindness, and inspiring presence of devotion to family and friends will be deeply missed by all who had the priviledge to have known Carol.

Left to cherish Carol's memories are her loving husband, Mark; the prides of her life, children Samantha "Sam" and Austin; her parents, Leonard and Shirley Ricke, of East Dubuque, IL; siblings, Linda Kern, of Woodland Park, CO, Dan (Laura Robey) Ricke, Darryl (Janet Hoftender) Ricke, Ron Ricke all of East Dubuque, IL, Dennis (Roseanne Kaefring) Ricke, of Lisbon, IA. Also surviving are her parents-in-law, David (Bonita Larson) Fluhr, of East Dubuque, IL; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe (Darla Mahoney) Fluhr, of Dubuque, IA, Jackie (Fluhr) and Barry Figel, of Humble, TX, Lloyd Fluhr, Jean (Fluhr) and Steve Robey, and Gerald (Jane Berning) Fluhr, all of East Dubuque, IL. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews with a special thought to Mandy (Kern) and Dennis McWilliams. Lastly, Carol is survived by very special friends, the Eldie and Mary Kritz family and the Randy and Kathy Accola Family.

Carol's family would like to give a very special thanks to Barb and Dawn from Hospice of Dubuque, and the many doctors and nurses at the University of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison, WI.
