Cameron Craig Splinter, age 37, of East Dubuque, IL, passed away on Saturday, November 2, at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque, IA.

Cameron fought a lifelong battle with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, exhibiting never-ending strength and courage throughout his journey. He touched the hearts of those around him with his selflessness, humility, and tenacious ability to endure. Family and friends alike will remember his quick wit and satirical sense of humor; he could always find the joke in any situation, regardless of the challenges or roadblocks in his way.

Cameron was a movie buff and music guru who loved all genres.  He shared a special appreciation for "wrastlin" with his Grandpa DeWayne. He was an avid race fan and spent many of his weekends at Tri-State Raceway cheering on all of Team Earlville.  His opinions were spirited and infectious, molded of life experiences and deep reflection.

Cameron is survived by his mother, Jayne (Randy) Temperley; father David (Helen) Splinter; brother Sheldon (Angie) Splinter; lifelong best-friend, Jordan (Carrie) Droessler; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ed (Dorothy) Splinter and DeWayne (Verval) Sampson.

A visitation will be held at Miller Funeral Home in East Dubuque on Friday, November 8, from 9:00 to 12:00 PM. A worship service will be held for family and friends immediately following.

The family gives special thanks to the medical staffs at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque and University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City for their continued support and care over the years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

A special note for those who knew Cameron well…He remained himself to the very end. Take solace knowing he's earned his front-row place in Heaven and is enjoying everything he's been without.
