Brother Gilbert L. Hensley, O.P., 73, of the Dominican Center, at Sinsinawa, WI, passed away at 5:55 A/M, Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center, in Dubuque, IA.

Visitation with the reception of the body will be after 9:30 A/M, on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, and the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Holy Rosary Chapel, Dominican Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, WI.

Graveside services and burial will be at 2:45 P/M, Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Resurrection Cemetery, Dominican Friars Section, Madison, WI.

Br. Gilbert was born on January 18, 1941, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Charles L. and Lillian (Scheefe) Hensley.

He attended St. John Cathedral Grade School and High School in Milwaukee, WI. He entered the Dominican Order in 1961 and made his profession of vows as a Cooperator Brother in 1962. Most of his religious life as a brother was spent working in the priories and parishes of the province. For several years he was on the support staff at Edgewood Grade School in Madison, WI, and most recently he lived and worked with the Dominican Sisters at the motherhouse in Sinsinawa, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles L. and Lillian (Scheefe) Hensley; and brothers, Charles Hensley, Jr. and Marvin Hensley.
