Betty M. Powers, 84, of 1381 Oak Park Place, Dubuque, IA, formerly of Menominee, IL passed away at 9:25 A/M, Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 A/M, Friday, November 9, 2012 at Nativity BVM Church, Menominee, IL with Rev. Jim Parker officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 A/M to 10:45 A/M on Friday at the church.

Betty was born on June 3, 1928 in rural Elizabeth, IL, the daughter of Howard and Meta (Wasmund) Stadel. She married Francis "Dutch" Powers on October 18, 1947 at St. Michael's Church, Galena, IL. Dutch preceded her in death on January 18, 2012.
Betty graduated from Scales Mound High School. She worked at the Galena Stauss Hospital, Galena, IL and Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, IA as a medical transcriptionist for 36 years. She loved to crochet, embroider quilt tops, crossword puzzles, soduku, scrabble, bingo and trying her luck at the casion.
Betty is survived by two sisters; Gloria Winter of Elizabeth, IL and Jean (Ralph) Muchow, Galena, IL; two brothers, Howard (Jean) Stadel, Freeport, IL and David (Ginny) Stadel, Dixon, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; a brother-in-law, Glenn Winter; a nephew, Jim Winter; great nephew, Clint Sitzmann; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Mary (Ray) Steinle, Marcella (Pete) Peters, and Joe (Luella) Powers.
Betty would want to thank a very special person, Molly Manders, for all her dedication and love the last three years to "Dutch" and her, the staff at Oak Park Place for their kindness and also to her little friend, Mason, who brightened her day.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque.
