Betty J. Busch, age 88, of Council Hill (rural Scales Mound, IL), passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Midwest Senior Care Community, in Galena, IL.

Betty was born on January 6, 1937, in Benton, WI, the daughter of George and Evelyn (Hughes) Stienstra. She graduated from Scales Mound High School.

Betty married Delmar Busch on June 16, 1956. He preceded her in death on November 21, 1986. She was employed at the Scales Mound School and retired from the Galena Gazette.

She is survived by her sons, Lynn (Jane) Busch, Alan (Paula) Busch; and daughter, Karen Soppe, all of Scales Mound; grandchildren, Erica (Bill) DeBord, Anya (Brad) Travis, Keri (Josh) Edmonds, Brandon Busch, Cody (Brittni) Busch and Courtney (Zach Winter) Busch; great-grandchildren, Ava Travis, Kadence Gillen, Adyn Travis, Kaylin Busch, Cohen Busch, Kase Busch and Marlee Winter; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Evelyn; brother, John "Bill" Stienstra; and niece, Susan Stienstra.

Betty's family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at the Midwest Senior Care Community and Hospice of Dubuque for their special care of their mother and grandmother.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the Miller & Steinke Funeral Home in Scales Mound, IL, where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, December 5, 2025, with Rev. John Lee officiating.  Burial will follow in the Council Hill Cemetery.
