Betty Rose Busch, 91, of Scales Mound, IL, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Mercy One Dubuque Medical Center, surrounded by her family.

Family and friends may call from 4 – 7 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024, at the Miller-Steinke Funeral Home in Scales Mound, and from 9:30 – 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the Scales Mound United Methodist Church, where services will follow at 10:30 a.m.  Rev. Libby Rutherford will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Scales Mound Twp. Cemetery.

Betty was born on March 2, 1933, in rural Scales Mound, the daughter of Leslie H. and M. Irene (Date) Koester.  She was a graduate of Scales Mound High School, the class of 1951.  On May 23, 1953, she was united in marriage to Roger W. Busch at the Presbyterian Church in Scales Mound.  He preceded her in death on February 27, 2000.

Betty was formerly employed as a cook at the Galena-Stauss Hospital for five years and later was a cook for the Scales Mound School District for 28-years from where she retired. She was well known for her excellent meals. She also served as the Scales Mound Village Treasurer for many years.

Betty's primary goal in life was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She loved her family.

Surviving are two daughters, Pam Busch and Donna (Butch) Birkett, both of Scales Mound; her three grandchildren, Brian (Renee) Busch, Amanda (Nick) Vondran and Aaron (Ashley) Birkett; six great-grandchildren; her brother, Kenny (Mary) Koester, of Scales Mound, and many numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger; and a brother, Cletus (Carole) Koester.

Betty's family wishes to thank Dr. Greg Vandigo, the Scales Mound Fire Dept. and EMT's, the Galena Ambulance, the nurses and staff at Midwest Medical Center, Mercy One Dubuque Medical Center and Harmony of Dubuque for their care and kindness shown to their mother and grandmother.
