Anna Marie Hefel, 83, of East Dubuque, IL, formerly of Dubuque, IA, passed away at home, surrounded by family, Sunday, September 22, 2013.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, Thursday, September 26, 2013, at St. Raphael's Cathedral, Dubuque, with Msgr. Wayne Ressler officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Dubuque.
Friends may call from 4 P/M to 8 P/M, Wednesday, September 25th, and after 9:15 A/M, Thursday, September 26th, at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, where the parish scripture service will be at 3:45 P/M, Wednesday.
Anna was born in North Buena Vista Township, IA, on April 1, 1930, daughter of George and Hattie (Wolter) Kamm. She married Joseph M. Hefel, May 15, 1953. He preceded her in death on February 1, 1979. She worked as a nurses aide until she retired at age 62. She enjoyed euchre, solitaire, embroidery, cross stitching, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are daughters, Lou Ann (Timothy) Gavin, Brenda (Buck) Atkinson, Carla Hefel, Kathy (Ed) Slatts, Lucy (Jerry) Jones, Carleen (Rick) Brillhart, and Inga Hefel; sons, Lonnie (Luanne) Hefel, Chris Hefel, and Larry (Denise) Hefel; sisters, Stella (Roger) Tigges, Joyce (Vincent) Kelly; sisters-in-law, Eileen Theisen, Shirley Kamm, and June Kamm; and Joseph Kamm and Pat Stuhldryer. She has twenty-six grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; her beloved pets, Murphy and Gracie.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister; five brothers; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Slaats.
