Alan C. Williams, 92, of rural Scales Mound, IL, passed away at 11:35 P/M, on Thursday evening, July 13, 2017, at the Lena Living Center, Lena, IL.

Funeral services will be at 11 A/M, on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at the Miller & Steinke Funeral Home, in Scales Mound, with Pastor Janice Diefenthaler officiating.  Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Warren, IL.

Visitation will be after 9:30 A/M, on Tuesday, until time of services at the funeral home.

Alan was born on May 6, 1925, in Apple River Township, of Jo Daviess County, IL, the son of William and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Williams.  He was united in marriage to Marvel Harris on December 26, 1952, in Dubuque, IA.  She preceded him in death on October 2, 2002.

Alan was a lifelong farmer with his brother, Gordon. He was a veteran of W.W.#2, serving with the U.S. Army.  He was a member of the Apple River American Legion Post #298, and was a Gold Circle Member of the Apple River VFW.

Surviving are a niece, Ann Schoenhard, of Freeport, IL; a great niece and nephew, Angela Schoenhard, of Chicago, IL, and Adam Schoenhard, of Freeport, IL; three (3) step-children, Bob Edge, June Shanahan and Sharie Morgan; step-grandchildren; step great-grandchildren; step great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Mary (Denny) Shippy, Gene Jogerst and Mark Jogerst.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, William and Elizabeth; his wife, Marvel; a sister, Virginia Laity; a brother, Gordon Williams; a niece, Korliss Schoenhard; a nephew, Rick Schoenhard; and special friend, Lorraine Jogerst.

An Alan C. Williams Memorial Fund has been established for the Veterans Honor Flight Program and FHN Hospice.

Alan's family wishes to "thank" the staffs of Lena Living Center and FHN Hospice for the excellent care given to Alan.
